While a strong dollar boosts spending, it’s less friendly to investments—especially for U.S. multinational companies earning revenue abroad. Their profits shrink when foreign currencies are converted into stronger dollars, dragging down stock prices.

Stovall notes, “About 40% of S&P 500 companies’ revenues come from overseas, and a stronger dollar reduces their overall earnings.”

不仅如此，靠出口“吃饭”的美国企业更惨，用“高价美元”买材料，再用“弱势外币”卖出去，利润直接被“砍半”。

Export-reliant U.S. companies suffer even more—they buy materials with expensive dollars, sell in weaker foreign currencies, and see their profits slashed.
