At approximately 3:15 a.m. local time, a pickup truck drove into New Year’s revellers along Bourbon and Canal Streets in the French Quarter of New Orleans, injuring around 35 people, some critically.

The driver then exited the vehicle and exchanged gunfire with police, who fatally shot him. Two officers sustained injuries but are in stable condition, according to New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.
